Plastic Bag Christmas Wreath

It's coming up to Christmas, but these can be used all year round for various celebrations. With a few simple tools (your hands and a pair of scissors), a wire coat hanger, some spare time and a pile of those annoying plastic shopping bags - you too can create this simple yet very effective wreath.

With a coat hanger that you no longer need, carefully re-shape it until it resembles a reasonable circle whilst still leaving the hanging hook as it is. If you don't have a coat hanger, anything thin and benable will do as you are not going to see the frame when it's done - you may just loose the hook that a coat hanger gives.

Grab your plastic bags and start to cut them into as close as you can equal strips of approx. 260mm long x 50mm wide. Do this anyway you want or feel comfy with, as you can get a fair amount out of each bag and as you can see from the picture they do not need to be perfectly cut

When you have a pile of the plastic bag strips, tie each one with a simple over-handed knot and pull it tight as shown.

Simply continue the above method with each and every plastic strip until you have the entire coat hanger covered and to the density that you like.

Trim off or tidy up the edges if required or wishing to with scissors, then hang up using a cup hook or similar and hanging the hook straight onto it

And enjoy!

The below images give some examples of different cominations you can use or create (even using smaller rings like in the first image below)
